Ancient Stuff

Linux on the IBM Transnote

One of these days I'll get all the parts working, but for now you can run Linux on the IBM Transnote.

Trans*

transbab.txt and transgpl.txt are a pair of bash shell scripts for doing command line text translation. They are basically simple toy applications that were done as proof of concept for a new project that I may be working on. Feel free to modify them.

wmCapShare

wmCapShare is a Window Maker dockapp for managing the Hewlett-Packard CapShare document scanner. It uses IrDA via OpenObex to talk to the hardware and some wrapper code around that to manage user interaction. It is written in C and uses libdockapp. REQUEST: If you have any clues about how to get the document group info from the OBEX protocol please tell me. The next version is waiting on that knowledge. Any info regarding the serial protocol would also be appreciated. wmcapshare-0.1.tar.gz

Tracks

Tracks is related to an idea that I've had for a long time, but has really been honed in the past few years. The goal of tracks is to build a new way to manage data in a way that allows the user to better create associations between data and extract new information from collections of old data. Vannevar Bush's MEMEX provided a lot of recent inspiration, along with the more recent work of Ted Nelson on ZigZag?. Eventually this was to be the home of tracks. I'm currently in the process of collecting and documenting my thoughts about how tracks should be constructed. The current focus is on how Tracks will store data. Progress is being made(not quite at the speed I'd like) and the initial results should be here soon. writing in 2012... ah the optimism of youth, yet I still continue to research this project
